SoC student Destin Hinkel places second in the Three Minute Thesis competition.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Graduate School hosted its annual 3MT (Three Minute Thesis Competition) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Research-based Master’s and Doctoral students were given 3 minutes to present their research as they competed for cash prizes. The judges this year were Dr. Al Chow, Professor of Marketing and Quantitative Methods at Mitchell College of Business, Ms. Lynne Chronister, Retired Vice President for Research and Economic Development at the Â鶹´«Ã½, Dr. Daniel Leonardi, Management Instructor & Executive-in-Residence, Mitchell College of Business and Mr. Warren Nicholson, Chief Engineer, Founder, President, and CEO of Nfina Technologies. Destin Hinkel (pictured with Dr. Harold Pardue, Â鶹´«Ã½ Graduate School Director) took home the second-place prize, winning $1,500. Chad Callegari and Nelson Navas also represented the School of Computing at the competition.
The 3MT Competition originated at the University of Queensland in Australia. It is a research communication exercise competition that challenges graduate students to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance in only three minutes using only one static slide.
