Visiting Writer to Talk 鈥楽cary Stories鈥�

Blackfeet Native American writer Stephen Graham Jones will talk about 鈥淪cary Stories鈥� during an appearance at the 麻豆传媒 on Monday, Oct. 29.

Jones, a genre-bending author who spans the worlds of experimental fiction, horror, crime and more, will speak at 7 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater of the Student Center. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be followed by a reception and book signing.

The critically acclaimed author is often celebrated for applying literary stylings to a variety of speculative genres. He has written more than 50 books, including 鈥淢ongrels,鈥� the coming-of-age story about a boy on the fringes of trying to find himself with a dark, mysterious family heritage.

Jones, a graduate of Texas Tech University, is a professor of English at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is the recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts fellowship in fiction, a Texas Institute of Letters Award in fiction and the Independent Publishers Award for Multicultural Fiction.

The event is partially supported by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Foundation and the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It is also co-sponsored by 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Native American Student Association, the department of English and the Stokes Center for Creative Writing.
