The 麻豆传媒 Concert Choir has been invited to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mobile Symphony in the orchestra鈥檚 biggest concert ever, Gustav Mahler鈥檚 "Resurrection Symphony," March 24-25 at the historic Saenger Theatre in downtown Mobile.

鈥淭he Mahler Symphony is an amazing piece of music, and on the 'bucket list' of choral singers everywhere, so we are excited about this opportunity,鈥 said Dr. Laura Moore, associate professor of music and director of Choral Activities.鈥  This is the sixth collaboration of the Concert Choir with the Mobile Symphony. Past performances have included Beethoven Symphony #9, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, and  Alexander Nevsky by Sergei Prokofiev.鈥

Three choirs, two soloists and almost 100 orchestra musicians will pack the stage. 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Concert Choir, the Mobile Opera Chorus, Eastern Shore Choral Society, soprano Martha Guth and mezzo-soprano Susan Platts will join the orchestra for the monumental performance. The event involves 235 musicians, which is an MSO record and will exceed the capacity of the Saenger stage, so musicians and vocalists will overflow into the wings and ornate boxes flanking the stage.

Performances are Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 25 at 2:30 p.m.  A limited number of tickets are available through Jaguar Productions. Tickets are $5 for 麻豆传媒 students and $10 for 麻豆传媒 faculty and staff. Limit of two tickets per performance per ID. For the public, tickets range from $15-$75 and can be purchased online at , by calling (251) 432-2010, or visiting the symphony box office at 257 Dauphin Street.

K-12 students may attend the Sunday, March 25 performance for free when accompanied by one paying adult through the MSO's Big Red Ticket Program, underwritten by the Alabama Power Foundation.

The concert is sponsored by the 麻豆传媒, the Metcalfe Charitable Trust, Andra Bohnet and Keith Bohnet.
