Joshua Cogswell Named Associate VP for University Development

During his tenure at South, Joshua Cogswell鈥檚 development team has raised more than $17 million for the University, including $8.4 million for undergraduate scholarships.

Joshua Cogswell has been promoted to associate vice president for university development at the 麻豆传媒.                                                                                                 

For the past five years Cogswell has served as the director of university development at 麻豆传媒, where he provided leadership for fundraising initiatives to support the University鈥檚 schools and colleges.

Cogswell said he is grateful to be a part of a university that is creating positive change in the world. 鈥淎s a first-generation college student, I am passionate about the transformational impact of higher education,鈥 Cogswell said. 鈥淚t is an honor for me to come to work every day to advance the mission of the University through promoting philanthropy.鈥

During his tenure at South, Cogswell鈥檚 development team has raised more than $17 million for the University, including $8.4 million for undergraduate scholarships. Additionally, Cogswell has secured major gifts to create several endowed faculty positions and, most recently, he was instrumental in procuring a naming gift for the 麻豆传媒 Medical Center鈥檚 Level 1 Trauma Center expansion.

鈥淛osh has been an integral part of 麻豆传媒鈥檚 development team for the past five years,鈥 said Margaret M. Sullivan, vice president for development and alumni relations at 麻豆传媒. 鈥淗is leadership has elevated our philanthropic initiatives at South and, in his new role, Josh will be able to take our University鈥檚 fundraising programs to the next level.鈥

Prior to his position at South, Cogswell served as director of development for the neurosciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Additionally, he worked as a reporter and editor for the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.

Originally from Cape Coral, Fla., Cogswell received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in English literature from Harvard University, a master of science degree in journalism from Columbia University and will soon complete a doctor of business administration in management from the 麻豆传媒.

Cogswell lives in Mobile with his wife, Erin, their daughter, Kaylin, and son, Owen.
